I like the top knife in most of the photos. The one with the more "spear" point look.
It seems the best design for survival use.

I am still looking for my first CRK....I am hoping for a Shadow I......I was able to handle one at Blade and it was instant love......too bad love and Credit Card bills don't see eye to eye!

Hex end caps are the older pattern.
I have an old Sable III with the hexagonal.
I don't know when they switched to round.

What is the Hexagonal end caps on these...I have only seen round ones?

Jason, (note from CRK) All knives made in South Africa were supplied with hexagonal (not octagonal!) caps. We made the change to round caps in 1990/1 for the large caps and a year or so later for the small caps.

By and large, the hex and round caps are interchangeable.

was the guard on the bottom one modified?

Hello Mike, if your referring to the single hand-guard knife in the pic's,

CRKGreenies020.jpg

no thats a Sable I. All the Sables and Mountianeers come with the single hand-guard, unless specially ordered different.

thanks,

Jules

I like the single guard, since it allows more grips, which I prefer on a camp/all-purpose knife.
