Well, I've been happy with my 9" aluminum discs for years, but am thinking about adding a steel disc to the mix for some tasks.

Is there any place that sells them? I know Rob did a limited run of them quite awhile back.

I could probably make one just fine with my new lathe, but I'm not set up with a broach for the key-slot.

So ya got a lathe now huh? Instead of broaching a keyway use a motor with a flat for set screw. Would that work OK?

...or just drill a hole for the keyway, centered on the edge of the shaft hole.
(before drilling and boring the shaft hole.)

finish with a safe edged file.

or

finish like this
use the cutting tool in the lathe as a broach, taking small manual cuts out of the keyway
(think metal shaper)
I saw a video on this...

This video shows making a special jig, but why not just use the handwheels ?

Nick you might try R.W. WILSON from West Virginia. Out of the four discs I'm running now 2 of them are steel both from R.W., and by far the most balanced discs I've run across.
Ken.

Nick, I just got mine from Knife and Gun. It is worth it if you are looking at doing what i think you are.

Thanks guys! :) I appreciate the advice.

Erik and Greg, that's exactly what I need and cheaper than trying to do it myself! Thanks guys! :)
