Just wondering what knives have arrived so far in the 9" test? I know mines in their, just curious about what else came up.

Is the Special Ops Jungle Machete seen in the 7" test going to be tested? I hope so. I have one and think it's a great knife.I'd like to see how it compares, and I will try not to cast doubts on your lineage if for some reason or another it does not do as well as the others

Matt,

Your knife is here and looking pretty SWEET!

I will be testing the Jungle Machette, in fact I already tested it in a few tests along with the 7" test. The results will show on the new 9" test.

So far we have...
  • Cold Steel TrailMaster CV Version
  • Busse Basic #9
  • Matt Lamey 9"
  • United Cutlery Rambo 1 (hehe

  • United Cutlery Jungle Machette by George Lainhart
  • Rob Simonich (on the way)
  • Adamantium (On the way)

I may throw more into the mix.

Excellent!
Thanks for going to the trouble to do another round of tests.Especially after the flack over the last round of tests. Many of us here appreciate these tests and seeing the truth told about the performance of the knives tested, even if our favorites don't come out on top. Please keep up the good work.
Thanks,
m

Hey Mike, you should have mine on monday. Glad to see that other people are doing some knives for free also. Also, sorry it took so long, things got slowed down with school and all.

Later

Sincerely,
Adam

Thanks guys. Let me know what you want me to do with the knives when done.

Only the Cold Steel Trailmaster and Busse will be taken all the way to failure.

Feel free to refinish mine and sell it(if you can find someone who will actually buy it) or take it all the way to failure if you want. Your still checking if the knives are .223 resistant right?

). There is a pic of it in the shop forums somewhere. It looks pretty good.

This is gonna be fun.

Mike, I hope you built up some callouses from the last round of testing.

Well, I have full confidence in the Lamey knife. I have 2 of them and they are very tough knives. I have actually chopped a small tree down with my Lamey Camp knife. Matt has a bright future in the knife making world.

Hey Mike, if you need to get rid of the Lamey knife after the test, send it to me!

I broke into my piggy bank so I'll be able to get the knife in the mail Wednesday. Yeah, I know, I said Monday, but I forgot I have to include return postage. Thanks for the kind words Rob!!! Take care! Michael

Hmmm, that is odd. They might of done it to help keep the knife tip heavy, but being UC, they probably did it to save a few $$$.

The thing that looks wierd to me is how their is the brass lanyard hole down at the bottom. On just about all knives thats is connected to the bottom of the tang.

Sincerely,
Adam

I often get the impression no one at United Cutlery thinks anyone will ever want to use one of their knives ... they're just to look at ... not particularly attractive ornaments, but ornaments nonetheless....

I talked with John Fitch last night. He is the current ABS cutting competition champ. If its not too late, he has a knife he would like to send in for the test.

The way I set up the tests I can add a knife at nearly any time. I made the tests easy for me to duplicate so if in the future I test a new knife the results can be used to compare to knives in a previous test.

For instance the 9" test, I am currently running for the trial issue of our online magazine, is bascially done as far as the Busse and the Cold Steel are concerned. The others will be tested over the next few weeks and those results will be added to the Busse -vs- Cold Steel test.
