$900 axe?!?

I love Kellys and collect them. I was watching that one for the fun of it. I knew I wouldn't be able to win it. The etch is very sharp on that one and I've never seen a collar like this one has, on any Kelly, rather rare. I remember a pristine Black Raven double bit (NOS) that went for $1.200+. I think Operator may have won that one.
The price really didn't surprise me...My wife said "that's just nuts".

I've never seen a collar like this on a double bit. I think they are referred to as adze eye or at least on single bits.

I really like embossed axes but that's why I don't buy any. Too rich for me, but there seems to be ongoing and increasing demand for the ones in really nice shape like that one.

I wonder if whoever wins that will actually use it. On a side note, is it really truthful when people say stuff like "that old axe had the best steel"? Would it really be better than average varieties of today?

Yowzer, I know a gentleman who collects tools with a couple black raven's on the wall, one of which is a cruiser in immaculate shape and a perfect embossed image.
