how thick is the blade on this model? seen the new one in a magazine with stag and think it is a great looking knife. what is the thickest blade stock buck has ever used?
 
Okie, I saw that one at the plant and I think it was 3/16's.But I've seen Buck use thicker
1/4" and I think it was on the M9.Thats over kill.DM
 
Yes I measured mine it was 3/16th. The 903s are beautiful Id seen them many times on ebay but didnt realise just how beautiful until i owned one.

I measured my Buck Custom bowie (I think it is a 903 but doesn't say it on the knife) and it is .175" on the blade just below the guard.

The Buckmaster is .290" measured just below the guard.

Give or take .001 I suppose. I used a dial caliper.

For those who are not familiar with the 903, here are a couple of pics. One shows the 903 compared to a Buck 102. The other compares the 903 with a few other of the large Bucks.

I think it is white micarta. I noticed that too!:D

Been wanting one of those for a loooonng time.

Some nice 903's in this thread. I really like that stag one JB.

It really doesn't have a model number. While it is a genuine Buck knife, it is a custom that was made by the late Frank Buck--actually it is a prototype for a single knife made by Frank for a specific customer.

Very nice Buck knife photos, I like your picture also. I thought that may have been one of Frank's Larger than life knives.

About the standard 903s, i know it's a wall hanger.
But i do seem to recall that there was a belt looped leather (can't be too sure of the color) Buck sheath sold as an accessory item.
Just wondering if anyone has that and actually heard of any 903s put to actual field use? Thanks!
