A beautiful Chisel Ground Stryker, Recently gifted by a dear friend and an awesome addition to the family.

I've dated it around early 1998 and the steel is ATS-34. I know there aren't too many of these floating around but curious if anyone can add any history?.

WOW, what a great gift from a great friend! A fine addition to the family indeed.

Nothing I can add other than to tell you the obvious, It's a beautiful piece. Love it. :D

Thanks!

I'm very happy to have it. The condition is truly mint like it just came out of the box for the first time. A real blast from the past and as I have a particular affection for the Strykers I consider myself very lucky to have gotten one, especially in this condition.

Nice knife P., I own the satin version and feel lucky to have one.

Thanks Joe.

I've seen the pic's of yours, very nice!

I'm very interested in the history of these Chisel Ground Strykers because they made so few of them. Even with the regular 910's they made slight adjustments and changes with different runs. You can see the slight differences in blade design between the first and second generation runs. The texture of the G10 also. Very slight but if you compare side by side you can see the differences.

With the CG there so few samples around I can't find much to compare it too.

I spoke with our favorite BKC customers service rep and he was very helpful as always but was going from memory as they don't have a lot available as far as specks from back then on this model. Some blades have the steel stamped on the blade, some don't. The box for the first run of the CG was completely different.

Like I said, was hoping to post it up and see who all else might be able to post some pic's of theirs for comparison and what they may know as far as the different run's.

Great knife and piece of BM history.

Why not ask Allen Elishewitz? He was pretty involved with BM early on. IIRC BM was making a chisel ground Emerson design at about the same time; it was kind of a fad.

The old Strykers are great blades. I've owned a few and I loved them both. Wouldn't hesitate to pick up another.

Not much to offer on the history, Still learning myself. I do know its one of my favorites.

For the archives:

Neither one of mine is a chisel grind. Closest I have is a 970 w/ a CG..

Nice get, pbcg

Nice knives...where have you been keeping those things? They are a couple of beauties!

That M2HS version you have is really sweet! and rare. Very nice!

I wonder how many plain edge chisel grind Strykers are floating around the world. I have not seen many pictures of them, if any.

Charlie, I agree. I have no idea on the numbers but these are rarer than hen's teeth. And the 910SCG is the only example of a right sided chisel ground blade Benchmade ever did. This may have been Allen giving a nod to Ernie in some way, that's only a guess.

Thank you for the information on that, Joe. I wish more was known about the history on these and other knives, they really are some of the best to come out of Benchmade and may very well stand as classics some day.
