This is the first 9160 blade I've done, same thing as 5160 but without the crome. The 9160 was used for the leaf springs on the old Studabakers. The blade is 8 1/4" with 1018 fittings and a ironwood/osage orange handle.

You da man! You've really put out some beautiful stuff lately. As for the 9160, does that mean it will be that much more susceptible to rust, or ...?

Hey ya Old Fart. When we get old and fat rolling is the next best thing. BTW the ironwood is from our trade.....

Mete, Its for sure 9160, Wayne Goddard had given it to me at the OKCA Show in April this year. Jeff Carslyle had given him a few bars to try out so Wayne passed one to me....

Mete, I don't have that information now but I'll give Jeff a call on the alloy content. I really don't think its much different than 1060 but I'm thinking it has some silican or something else I won't attempt to spell in it.

Way COOOOOOOOOL !!!!!!! Ray

Man you are making me look bad.Guess I will have to try and get 40 hours in a day so I can get MOM situated and some knives done also.

Mete, Pardon me but you were right about the steel being 9260. I believe I was going off my memory. Here are the specks on the steel: .60C, .83Mn, 1.93Si, .21 Cr. I guess it also has a touch crome in it.

Yup, like I thought. 9260 has no chrome but 9254 has (it's refered to as silicon chrome spring steel).

I don't care what it's made of, it looks great! Love the upswept look to the blade, very classy

I was hoping this knife would be liked but at this time the knife has not been epoxied together and the look of this guard makes me not sure if I like it with or without it. Anyone else feel this way?
