Posted this over at Spyderco's site yesterday and didn't get any responses as yet. Thought I would try over here where I do most of my reading.

"I just purchased a 93mm Rescue. How many of you have this knife and use it as a general use blade? It seems that the combination edge would serve you pretty well. The front PE inch for precise cutting chores and the SE rear 2/3 of the blade for cutting tough material."

Let me know your opinions on this blade.

thanks

John

Well this may not count, as my current Rescue is an older C14 in ATS-55 and PE at that, but I find a large sheepfoot blade very useful for my purposes and much more "socially acceptable" in the extremely PC environment where I work than other blade shapes. I also like the large hole in this knife, as it makes it very easy for me to open. I got the plain edge because I find them both easier to maintain and easier to use than serrated or combo. Part of this may be that most serrations are set to favor right handed use, and I'm a lefty.

In point of fact, I like the forward finger notch introduced on the blue 93mm, think it offers some benefit to me, and want a PE one bad enough that I'm currently trying to get drum up sufficient interest for Sal to produce the short run that he said he'd consider doing. Do also wonder if somewhere down the road this, and perhaps some or all of the other rescue type Spydies, will go from VG-10 to H-1 for even greater corrosion resistance.

I like the blade configuration of the Rescue 93mm, but decided not to buy one. I previously owned a PE Rescue, but it felt a bit too blade heavy to me. I like the size and balance of the Rescue Jr better. I would like to see a Rescue 79mm with the PE tip.
