I acquired a 940-1 via a BF trade a few weeks ago. Prior to that the only BM I had owned was the Bushcraft (which I enjoyed very much).
In general, BM folders aren't what I look for when shopping around. I tend to prefer a wider blade.

When the trade was proposed I though what the hell...I'll give it a shot.

To my relative surprise, upon inspecting it I found it to be aligned and centered perfectly. No blade play in any direction. The Axis lock was smooth and comfortable. Its slim profile and light weight make it disappear in my pocket. I've got it adjusted now to open solely with depression of the Axis and a slight flick. It closes the same way. It slices through everything like butter.

Herein lies my problem. I've got a pile of other folders that are getting NO pocket time at all. I sincerely wish everyone's experience with this model were as ideal as mine has been.
My 940-1 is flawless. Its a keeper.

I received my 940-1 in flawless condition as well. It's a great knife no doubt and a standout in it's class and size.

Congrats on your new knife!

Nice to hear that someone got one in, dare I say it, perfect condition!!!

Congrats!!! The 940 is a perfect EDC.

I have a question about the 940-1. Can you sharpen the blade yourself. I really like the look of that knife, but it's blade is made of s90 something. I'm under the impression only belts can sharpen it. I'm used to Buck's 420 hc. I've been alright with stones but my favorite is my 7 buck farberware steel that I picked up on a whim from Walmart. It's odd to me that becoming proficient with a stone after much pain and discontent and hours and months that a cheap steel accomplishes in less than a minute what takes 5-15 minutes with a stone. I like fine stones, rough ones steal to much steel.
Anyway would my sharpening steel work on S90 ? Sorry I droned on this.

Congrats. I stumbled onto the 940 10 or 11 years ago and didn't even know I was getting such a good knife. That one got stolen and I just replaced it finally. Sooooooooo much better that what I had been carrying in the interim. The perfect EDC for me.

You can sharpen s90v without mechanization..it just takes a little longer. Having some kind of rig helps like a Sharpmaker..or if you have the means, an Edge Pro.

S90V should not be a problem *IF* you don't let it get too dull. Keep it touched up frequently so it stays sharp and you should have no problems. Let it get really dull and you will have some work to do...

I recently began forcing the 940-1 out of my pocket and replacing it with other knives. I do this because the 940-1 is so "perfect" that it has become boring. I rarely have to sharpen it (pain in the anus when it needs it), the pivot is smooth as glass, and the ergos are tip top. I've now started carrying knives that have flaws just so I can interact with them more

Can't believe you made me read. lol, I was expected to hear a horror story but not a problem with the 940-1. I have almost went into panic mode sometimes at work because I'll have my 940 in pocket and it's so small I literally forget it's there

What a great knife indeed. I hand picked my 940-1 last year when they first came out. Carried it exclusively for 6 months. Then I started carrying larger TI knives and did the thing that most knife guys do and say "Hey I'll use this to fund another purchase"
Sold it...
Regretted it...
Still regret it...
I need another one. One that stays for good.

BGBrian. DO NOT sell or trade that thing. It's a KEEPER Trust me. :D
