940-1 side to side play adjustment?

I just picked up a very slightly used BM 940-1, and it has just a little more side to side play than I'd like. I simply tightened the pivot screw (a small fraction of a turn) and the play is reduced, but the flipping action is now pretty stiff. It no longer falls closed when the lock is released, and I have to manually fold it closed.

Is there a way to adjust out the play and keep it flipping/closing freely?

I have a 940, 940-1, and 940-2. The -1 and -2 have a little more side-by-side than I'd like and the -1 is worse. There is no way to adjust it out on mine without making the pivot too tight. The standard version with aluminum handles has no play. However, the play on the -1 and -2 does not keep me from enjoying them.
