940-2 - Inconsistent Scale Texture

It's up to you if it bothers you enough to send it in. If it's gunna be a user knife then I say just keep it. That little smooth patch isn't hurting anything.

Maybe send it back so they can see the huge QC slip. You/us deserve better. I do love my Benchmade but my 940-1 and 940bk are great. So are my 550 710 and 1011011. Your choice. Good luck

My 940-1501 is just like that (the somewhat smoother patch of g10 around the pivot area), and I recall there was at least another thread talking about the same thing. So, I'd think it is not abnormal. The slightly asymmetric bevel grind on the two side is also very common among production folders, not just Benchmade. The blade being a bit off centered could be annoying, for which you can ask for an exchange. I don't think the first two "issues" can guarantee to be fixed (by Benchmade) or gone (through an exchange from the dealer) COMPLETELY.

I think they're all like that. Mine is at least and a lot of others' pictures seem to show the same thing.

Glad you decided to keep it.....I really can't see sending it back for that.
Perfection does not exist.
It's an excellent knife, go cut stuff and enjoy it!!

We see that from time to time on G10 that doesn't have much/any contour to the handle. It has do do with the layering and where the flat spot falls on each layer.

My 940-2 exhibits the same characteristics the OP mentioned. Blade grind is slightly off (higher towards the tip than at the ricasso), and a shiny patch on the G10 on one side near the butt of the grip. That said, these minor inconsistencies don't bother me much. Still a great knife. Flipping it right now, in fact.

Hey CM!!
Really glad you decided to keep it. You'll see, after a few months of carry and use, how amazing the knife is.
Also, they just get smoother and smoother!
I have 5 94x, all bought new, and they are all amazing!!
So amazing in fact, that my sons 'borrow' them more than any of the other knives I have!
Enjoy it brother......it is awesome!
