I have limited funds and intend to buy both as soon as I can, but which one should i get first?

I say 940. I have never shopped at knife works but I feel knife center is cheap too the 940 runs $148

707 is smaller, lighter and less expensive than 940 but you should also consider the 943.

707: 2.95" modified clip point blade of 154CM weighing 2.6 ounces
940: 3.4" modified reverse tanto blade of S30V weighing 2.9 ounces
943: 3.4" clip point blade of S30V weighing 2.9 ounces

why the 943?

707 & 943 look more like each other in blade shape than 940. Check out the pictures of 707, 943 and 940 in that sequence below (don't pay attention to serrations since they cone with or without):

You shoud also consider 470-1 with a 3" clip point blade of S30V weighing 2.2 ounces:

So, blade length, cost, blade shape and handle color are some of your deciding factors.

I liked the 707 more from what I handled at Blade (940 as well)

Don't drink the 943 koolaide, go 940.

It's not about koolaide but options. I have all four and my own order of most carried are as follows mostly because of the 3" blade length limit in L.A.:

  1. 707
  2. 470
  3. 940
  4. 943

With no blade length limit my top choice is 940 due to blade shape and handle color.

if anything this has added another knife to the never ending list.... the emissary.

Great little knife, I'd go 940, 470, the 707. The only sequel that catches my eye is the blue m390 cf one from Matt's shooter. My 940 sees a lot of pocket time, and is a top 5 benchmade for me.

If anything I think the 707 is less hand filling than a mini grip, tiny.

943 is a good design, I just like the 940 better, first Benchmade design that I fell in love with for looks and fell in love again for how it works. :)

I've never held a 707, but I owned a 705 (705-401 in silver twill G-10...god that was sexy) for a while. Great little knife, but it felt too small in my average-sized hands. It's a 3 finger knife.

The 940 is one of my favorites. Large enough, yet slim, thin, light, and has a great blade profile for general utility.

I love the reverse tanto blade shape. Very few slim knives have a nice sturdy point like the 940 does.

This statement sums it up perfectly. You won't go wrong with the 940/943, it is one of my favorites as well.

Both are great knives. I personally went with the 940. Classic BM, a great knife and a little more blade than the 707.

I will be going with the 940. I just found my 556 and that satisfied the urge for a 707 sized blade. (for now ;p)
