Does anyone have a 940 in which the blade is reground to a full flat grind?
Thinking of getting a 940 and wonder if the cutting performance can be improved by a full flat grind.

I have a 940-1 that just got a flat grind. It should be arriving on Monday. I have pictures of it but haven't had the chance to test it yet. I will let you know.

Rottincorps - really want to see this and know how it slices. I would be very interested in having my 940-1 done up this way. Who did yours, if you can say?

I had Josh from Razor edge knives do it. I can't post pics on here but if you give me your email I could send you a picture, if you want.

I would rather have an S-90-V clip point blade. I don't understand the fascination with the reverse tanto point, but I don't do a lot of skinning.

guys I also have a 940, I am curious of a full flat grind, how thin will that leave the edge behind the bevel? Seems it will be an excellent slicer but what about longevity? it already slices well:indecisiveness:

I got my 940-1 back. It is crazy sharp. I would love to post a picture but it won't let me with the basic account.

You can use an image hosting site like imgur or photo bucket and post the link on here you only need a premium membership if they host the picture.

Do you have an IG account? I'd love to see pics too. DM or tag me in them? same user on there too, WCEDC

I wanted to improve the cutting performance of my 940. S30v is a good steel and should have no problem if it is ground thin. I used an edge pro to put a 22 degree bevel on the blade (same as a typical scandi), polished it, then used a sharpmaker to add a 30 degree microbevel. The results were fantastic. It completely transformed the knife and is very easy to touch up with the sharpmaker.

I have been thinking about this thread for a while. Also, I have been dieing to see a picture!!! Text it, email it or mail one to me!

How do you FFG a 940? Am I crazy to think how thin of a blade that would be? We talking FFG to the back flat where your thumb can go on OR taking it all the way down where the swedge is the top of the grind? I thinned my 940-1 (light duty work only) to about 20 inclusive with a bit of convex instead of micro. Anyways, thinning it transformed it 100% for the better. My dmt's are hungry for some M4, the new Contego is next! I mention the Contego only due to the very similar blade shape with the 940.
