940 centering issues

Recently, I went to Smoky Mountain Knife Works, and I bought a 940. When I first handled it, I noticed the blade was the slightest bit off center, and it was the last black blade, no serrated 940 they had. So I bought it thinking that I could fix the center and have a happy life. *trump voice* WRONG. I carried and played with it for a little bit before I bothered trying to fix it, the centering got a little worse. Now I can't fix the centering no matter what I try. What should I do from here as I can't return it since I've carried it? Thanks for any and all help!

That the centering became worse after you carried it for a while seems to indicate a loose pivot. I auume you tried to tighten it a bit? How severe is the off centering? Does the blade rub the scale or is it close to rubbing? Anyway, you can send it to Benchmade for warranty work if it bothers you.

The blade is as tight as I'm gonna put it, its fairly tight and there is no blade play. And when I put pressure on the blade to open it, yes it rubs the scale.

Send it in to BM. Don't worry, they'll fix it up for you. Using or carrying it doesn't void the warranty. Even if you tinkered with it to try and center the blade it's OK.

Disassembly voids the warranty but even then they'll service the knife if all you did was take it apart.

If you take it apart and break something then they might charge a fee to repair but otherwise you should be GTG.
