I was polishing up my 940-1 and it sure seems like the edge is between 25° & 27° per side. I thought that was a tad high. My 761 is right on at 20° per side.

Anyone have input on the 940 angle? Is that an accurate reading I have?

I've heard benchmade freehands the final sharpening on powered equipment. If that's the case, I don't think there could be any real consistency between knifes.
What method did you use to determine the angle?

^that is correct. I've seen 15 degrees per side, some more, some less. The edges are more often very obtuse, but sharp. I like it since it reduces the likelihood of chipping or deformation.

Between my edge pro and an angle cube...

I started at ~20°, then slowly inched up until I was hitting the apex.
I mean..it's sharp as can be...all the more impressive really.

Sounds like a reliable method, ~25° per side seems unreasonably high though.
I prefer mine at 18° (per side) or less, depending on steel and use. Some I have at 10 per side.

I set the WE to 17' per side for my first re-profile on the 940-1, and it took a bit of work to form an edge. I have no way of measuring but I would guess the factory edge wasn't any more than 22' per side.

My 940-1 was probably around 25 DPS. I keep it at a tidy 16º, but it takes F O R E V E R to get there.

Yeah the s90v is no joke.
I had a tiny chip near the tip of my s90v Yojimbo 2 and it took me about 30 minutes of work to smooth it out.
