Does anyone know what the green aluminum 940 scales are coated with from factory and what the best way to change color would be?

they’re anodized. I’m not too knowledgeable but i would think that you would have to remove the coating and either reanodize them or apply another coating such as cerakote.

Whink rust remover and a bit of friction will take off the existing anodization.

For coloring again, if you mean at home, I expect you'd be limited to paint unless you want to get into a serious science project. Wikihow's tutorial on anodizing aluminum involves lye, battery acid, and a battery charger. There isn't a simple and safe way to anodize aluminum as far as I've seen.

Thanks guys, I was thinking cerakote might be the answer, as for the back spacer, that’s suppose to be titanium and I’m going to try and home anodize. I’ll share when I’m done.

btw, I think I might be becoming a 940 fan boy collector

Oh yeah that part is titanium.

Guys I’m getting really close to done on this one and ready to share pics, I have one question though… are the 940 washers different than the 940-1 washers? The washers I am using are from a 940 g10 barrel spacer model and I seem to have blade play side to side.
thanks

Borrow a micrometer or caliper and measure them.
