Did someone mod like that in Rift?

Yes, quick work with the contact wheel on a (4X36) belt sander. I'll post a photo later.

Here you go. I removed just enough material for it to be comfortable.

After the mod the Rift would probably be a favorite of mine but I still don't like the thumb stud placement. Stud needs to be removed to sharpen properly on a stone. And it can be in the way when cutting too.

Your knife looks great. Removing the hump would make the hold more comfortable. And agreed, I've also replaced every one of my knives with the larger 3/16" stud in favor of the smaller standard studs. Looks better and is more functional.

Looks much better without that damn horn killing the ergonomics. If they made them that way I'd have never sold the one I had. Luckily, the Contego solved that issue for me entirely.

I'm thinking about next step, but it's distant future. Need some machine to do it and skill. No more diamond files...

Why did you remove the hump? I feel like it helps make up for the lack of jimping

I agree with this. I do like the look of those mods, although I personally wouldn't change it. The hump sits perfectly between my pinky and ring fingers. Locks a solid grip in just right for me.

I think this mod may be best for those with smaller hands. The hump also fits between my fingers but then I'm gripping the handle further back than I like. If I grip the handle where I want, my pinky lands right on top of the hump. Smooth it down, problem solved.

Jk and i are twin brothers with the same size hands which are smaller than a good majority of the American adult male population.

I feel as you do that the hump gets in the way and would much prefer the Rift with this mod done. The same hump is perfectly comfortable and preferred for him.

Its amazing how much tastes and preferences can change from one person to the next.

When I clenched hand on the handle, I felt discomfort. Even before last session doing patch with diamond file. Even 1 mm more or less make difference. Now it's very comfortable and still solid for EDC knife. Better than in BM 940 imho. My hands aren't so small, but not very big too. 9 cm [3.60"] wide measuring between fingers and thumb, just above thumb.
