Does any member have both? Per the Benchmade web site the 13960 HD version is described as a larger and heavier knife but a dealer told me that they are identical. Benchmade's documentation cannot even agree on the blade length as in the original announcement PDF the 13690 is listed as having a 3.4" blade while the web site listing says it has a 3.12" blade. Also the closed and overall lengths as well as blade thickness and weight listed for the 13960 are different from the 960 listed specs. Was the 13960 specs writer smoking something interesting?
I found a NOS 960 which I have ordered and am considering also getting a 13960 IF it is actually a different size knife. I have noted enough documentation errors on the BM web site though so I thought I would ask an owner of both knives.
