'98 vs modern Seb; old vs. new clip, retrofitting?

Well, after my bad experience with a small regular Seb and CRK some time ago, I called Mr. Reeve and had a nice chat with him a few days ago.

The result is that I am picking up an old daddy (not a grandpa though...) Seb... a Large Regular born in '98 from a forum member.

I'm curious what changes happened since then (besides the BG-42 to S30V switch), compared to the '04 models? I know with some makers, they constantly tweak the engineering (like the SnG gens) so the modern ones are really considerably better. Did anything change since '98?

One thing that I noticed is that the clip is the single-hump style. It looks like the double-hump style would be tighter and more secure.

It looks like I can buy a replacement double-hump from CRK, but will it be retrofittable?

Thanks.

You can swap the clips out no problem in fact I would trade you a new style clip for your old style clip. Larry

Is the old one better? I kind of like the look of the new ones... but maybe I don't know better. :)

When she comes in, I'll email you. It's supposed to be in "mint" condition.

Thanks.

Is the old one better? I guess that's a matter of preference. The reason for the new one is that Chris designed it to be better. I like the new clip but I can honestly say that I don't see a big difference in performance. Both held quite well for me.

I don't think there has been very much if any "tweaking" of the engineering on the Sebenza. Chris won't hesitate to change something if he feels that it will make a better knife. :) ;) :p
