Went to gun show this weekend & emerged happy as a clam.Sold some stuff & bought this Walther wannabe. It uses the Walther design but is about 3/4 size. Made in Hungary, the finish is as good or better than our USA stuff. Carl Walther design-quick take-down,barrel exchange is slick . Cost $179.00

Thought it'd be ideal for a carry because of it's compactness & caliber. It fires a shortened Makarov 9MM round & should be sufficent for self-protection.

Here in Central Florida the recession is showing up.The vendors & customers were about equally divided with about 1 in five buyers bringing something in to sell.

Uncle Alan :)

PS Tried to research this weapon but hit a brick wall.

Any ideas or help ?

Use Google to search on FEG pistol. You'll find quite a bit. Well made pistols from Hungary, compare favorably to Walther at much better prices

It is an amazing handgun, for sure .It fits in my belt & when I buckle up it's aimed away from my body. Since I wear guyaberra shirts or leave my shirttails out , I'll need no holster either.I am a 6'+ 2 and have large hands-no slide pinching either.

I fell in the butter !

"I fell in the butter." Ha, ha, ha! That's funny, Uncle Alan. :D

I suspect the pistol you bought is just like one I have. It's a good copy of a Walther PP, but in the 9mm Makarov caliber. I've actually got a pair of them because I liked the first one so well after I got it. I think it's a real bargain for the quality you get. I suggest you get a couple of extra magazines for it. The magazine is the heart of a pistol. If you want to baby the magazine spring you can load it to one round less than capacity.

Come to think of it, there is a smaller Hungarian pistol that's a good copy of a Walther PPK. These are scarcer, though. I've only seen one and I bought it, too. This model is also in 9mm Makarov caliber. It has a reputation for recoil.

We done exceedingly well in choosing this weapon. It is superior to my .40mm Steyer. Sold it because it extracted too much thumb webbing on rapid fire.'tho the 9 mm is a bit punier, a double tap'll take care of business.

Uncle Alan :D

good guns for the money, the only problem i've ever read about them is that it's a good idea to replace the recoil spring and the firing pin spring, i'm sorry i can't remember why now. slick little guns.

I've got a ducks back & small shots just run off. You see, I was carrying a .22 mag with a one inch barrel. This gun greatly increases range from belt buckle distance quite a bit....

Uncle [still happy as a clam] Alan :)

I believe the Makarov round is 9x18mm. Very close to .380 auto, but not interchangeable.
Hornady makes a nice hollowpoint round for this caliber.

Will seek those rounds soon.

We're really talking about a FEG pistol in 9x18 Makarov caliber, right? Or is that just an assumption? Does anybody know for sure what we're really talking about?

uses the Walther design but is about 3/4 size

Which Walther design? The P-38? The PPK? Something else? There are a lot of Walther designs....

sounds like this feg is the one about the size of the walther PP. good guns for the money.

Just FYI...

The .380 ACP or 9 MM Kurz is 9 X 17 MM and uses a .355 dia. bullet.

The Makarov round is 9 X 18 and uses a .362 (?) dia. bullet.

The Luger round is 9 X 19 and uses a .355 dia. bullet.

The .380 and the Makarov rounds are nearly always chambered in a blowback design pistol. The higher pressure Luger round is nearly always chambered in a locked breech design. Be sure which 9 MM round you're dealing with.

Look it up in google. I'm too dense to paste & send or post in the forum.

Uncle Alan  too ?

Posting a link is easy uncle Alan. Go up to the address line of your browser. The address line is where you type where to go. For this thread the address is: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5354000

Move your mouse up to the address in the address line and hit your left mouse button. It should highlight the whole address in blue.

Then hit your right mouse button. A small menu should appear.

Move the mouse arrow to the word "Copy". It should highlight the word in blue.

Hit your left mouse button. The menu should disappear.

Now move your mouse button to where you want to post the address and hit your left mouse button. This places the flashing cursor at that point.

Hit your right mouse button again. The menu should appear.

Choose paste and the link should appear: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5354000

When I learn what a browser is,I'll print these instructions & struggle toward success.

A browser the program that allows you to surf the net. It is the program you used to post the above lines. (I assume you are using a computer). :)

I went through C.C.P. classes with an FEG Makarov...., I did much better with it than some there with Glocks, Smiths, and even one Kimber....., the trigger pull is just a little stiff but I was very pleased with the shot group.
