I'd appreciate any experiences you've had with lam. steel. Specifically the A-1's 420j2/vg-10 vs. straght VG-10, Cliff, what do you think? pro's/con's, thanks.

Is there any way I could get a solid VG-10 A-1? I got a bad feeling about that laminate if my knife is bent it might as well be broke>

On the secondary market you might be able to pick up a solid VG-10 one. They have a forum on Knifeforums, you could ask there as well.

A bent knife is not a broken knife. With a laminated blade you can usually straighten the blade without weakening it. The kind of damage that is most objectionable is edge rippling. If you cut into something and then twist the blade (possibly from hitting a knot in wood) you can get a localized bend in the edge that is hard to get rid of. This is less likely with a thick blade like the A-1's.

Devilnut, try BladeMatrix for the straight VG10. Good prices too, but expect 2 weeks delivery time.

Thanks Stich, I'll check it out, one question are these new or used knives?
