This past weekend was the annual Shark-a-thon here in the Corpus Christi area on the national seashore. I decided to try out the Almighty A-100 to see if I could put 100% trust in the knife not just in dry/humid/wooded environments, but on the beach for 48 hours. I clipped the A-100 to my swim shorts and was wadding in waist deep water for nearly the entire trip fishing for red fish and trout.
The knife did great with a few minor signs of spotting:
I saw spotting on the edge of the blade and surprisingly on the non locking side around the edges but not on the flat area. I would like to know if this could be from the tooling used to cut the liner or if it's one of the emersons that had a stainless non locking side.
Other than the small spotting, the knife held up great in the salt water, cutting fishing line, making cut bait, around the grill, and showing the guys my ferro rods at attempting to make fire on the beach.
It's great to know that my Emerson A-100 can withstand anything in any environment
I choose my A-100 because my 2003 Emerson Commander has been to hell and back with me through camping trips, fishing, batoning, chopping, slicing, striking ferro rods, etc...and it still keeps on kicking. So I picked the A-100 due to its simple shape, simple parts, and excellent function. Now I have full faith in the A-100.
