Upper is a August 2020 Web Special, Real ebony covers, and S30V clip point blade.
Lower is a standard production from 2015.View attachment 1695918View attachment 1695919
Are my ancient somewhat defective eyes deceiving, or do the bolsters of the newer (upper) have more a a reddish copper/bronze hue than the elder knife's yellowish/brass hue?

Has Buck changed to copper or bronze fortified brass on the 110??
(I am not complaining. I like the look.)

Please don't ask me "Why you do that?!?" because I have no clue. 🤔😳 "Bored", maybe? I dunno.
For some unknown strange odd reason, I cleaned the bolsters and liners on three of my brass and wood 110's. (O.K. ... one that I cleaned has German Silver bolsters and liners, not brass.)
I don't have Coke Cola, so I used a significantly less acidic than the Coke Cola 5% acidity white vinegar to remove the tarnish.

yes in that pic the upper is more reddish, but just a hair.

seeing how brass is basically 66% copper and rest mostly zinc with a few additives....a slightly different formula with more copper would have this effect and still be brass.

bronze has tin. i doubt Buck switched. if they did i expect theyd mention it in the marketing. as bronze isn't really a downgrade. then again I doubt most would even care much either way.

Like all supplies one lot might be slightly different but within Bucks specifications. That could account for a slight difference in how it looks. I really like the lite 'chocolate' toning/tarnish..
