hog hunt? Seems this hunting method of feral hogs is becoming increasingly popular. Knives that are 9" in blade length or longer are recommended... but I think a good ol' 7.5" model 14 will do the job. With the finger grooves and large oblong hilt, the #14 will definitely be VERY secure in the hand.

Thought I'd throw a twist in the usual RMK discussions.

Happy Thanksgiving!

:D

Maybe they don't think you will be able to pierce the heart with a blade less than 9"?

If I were going to try kill a feral hog with only a knife, I'd want a #12 Confederate Bowie or a #13 Arkansas Toothpick.

Just sayin'.

Funny you bring this up. I was at my camp over the last week and my cousin has a pig that's ready to butcher and I really thought of asking him to let me do the deed with my 14. I chickened out though and never even asked him. Lol but it did cross my mind.

That would have been worthy of a pictorial review to present on this forum. I wonder about what DTHN2LGS said and the blade reach to the heart. Although, I've looked at a couple of pictures online and various blade lengths are used. I can only guess that the blade would penetrate between the shoulder blades from top.

Behind the ear forward into brain? Butchering not feral hog hunting right?
