A-2 Steel ?

I have heard that A-2 steel can't be differential heat treated,I know of one maker locally who does use the differential heat treat method on his knives,I would like to know why most makers claim that A-2 can't be differential heat treated.

The air-hardening quality sure adds a degree of difficulty, but it can be done.
