Good day Gents,
I have been carrying the Amherst folding hunter for about a month; fabulous knife! but at 5-1/2" its a bit big in pocket, and a little out of place in some social settings.
I have always carried at or around 4", and I had thought it was because the patterns I liked; the shape/blade arrangement that worked for were that size. But lately I have found that even in other patterns that look and feel right, 4" would work the best.
3.5" is too short to handle well. 3-3/4" or 3-7/8" borderline, and 4.5" is too big to pocket well.
So, 4" to 4 1/4" is it.
I have come to love not only the look, but use and feel of the hunter. So, a smaller hunter seems to be a copperhead. But I have yet to see one bigger than 3-3/4".
4-1/8" Trapper you say? Too narrow; wider is better. GEC trappers are wider, but then they are either too short or too long.
Cases' mid folding hunter is it basically, but that blade sits at an awful angle for my tasks, and it is unfortunately a single blade and I need 2.
So basically I am looking for a coperhead/folding hunter around 4-1/8", 2 full length blades.
Is this something I am going to find, in a production piece?
Or am I filtered down to a custom? (of which, Blues owns one, in brown bone by Mr. Erickson)
Yes, i'm being picky. I am looking fot that One pattern, to have that One knife. Maybe this won't be it, but right now it seems like it would be.
I have hit every knife dealer online that I can think of, and can't find it. So, the question this thread started as is sorta null; I highly doubt such an animal exists.
But, the great thing of these forums is this; Talking out a quest and a idea to like minded people. Even if ya can't help me, I feel better just for sharing my thoughts.
And, those like minded people tend to find or know of things I never could have found.
Here, I'll stop rambling on, I think.
