Now THAT is a custom firesteel. JV3, assuming the rod is 3/8" diameter?
Nice personal touch, conversation starter to boot . . .
Be safe.
p.s.: Can't believe I beat the godfather posting to this . . . . :)

That is quite possibly the coolest firesteel I've seen. .50BMG, just pick that up from the local drive by corner in J.C.?

1/2" - the fattest one!

Very cool idea now you need a 750 grain A-max striker.

i'm waiting for one of the tweeners as a striker.

JV3, looks like I am heading to the gun club this week-end, baitcasters can wait another week . . .
Thanks for letting me know, looks like Going Gear is getting into my pockets once again.
Be safe.
p.s.: Godfather must have dozed off after dinner tonight . . . .:)

Ah, Moose model, me thinks, 1/2" x 5", I gots me one. Haven't struck it yet, I got plenty of firesteels to play with, I'm keepin' that big dude for sumpin' special.

Very nice:thumbup:

I might steal that idea. :D

go for it!

Thats pretty sweet, excellent fit...

there's only a paper thin space around the firesteel - perfect gap for enough epoxy to hold the rod in place.

frigging sweet

somewhere in canada, a fatwood stump just spontaneously ignited when you opened this in your pc.

Cool fire steel.

Totally unrelated, other than the .50 cal connection.
Here's a pipe tamper I made from a .50 cal brass cleaning jag and a chunk of deer antler.
