A 50 mile round road trip brings me home a Camillus & a Case...

Did a stop at an army navy type store, picked up this three blade Camillus knife. No box, but in unused condition. Not a fan of delrin, but it seemed like a pretty cool knife, so decided to buy it.

The other stop was at a large hunting/outdoorsman chain store... and I picked up this Case amber jigged bone mini trapper. This one is really a beauty in every way.... I love being able to inspect before purchasing :-)

That Camillus is a nice find, Jimmy. They made a very nice stockman.

Until I started hanging out with this crew I'd had lots of knives with Delrin covers, none with bone. So oddly enough, Delrin is more traditional to me than bone.

Very nice finds. Camillus was one fine company. I grew up in the generation where everyone's Dad and Granddad carried stockmen and trappers. I can still remember those Camillus and Camco glass display cases at Sears, Ward's and all the family hardware stores. Most priced around one dollar.
Now that generation has passed I'm just starting to make a study of them. I can see some nice traditional pocket knives in my near future.

Jimmy, which chain store did you find that Case in?

Thanks, Frank :-)

I passed by the old Camillus Cutlery (which is less than ten miles away from me)... And remember shaking my head at the fact that they're gone. So, I guess it was fitting to bring a Camillus home with me. I may be having a hard time liking delrin... but, I am working on it... or it is working on me, since now I own 2 delrin handled knives. Maybe because Camillus is gone, I guess my being picky is somewhat minimized with them. This Camillus will certainly continue in adding diversity to my pocket knife collection :-)

The mini trapper was not what I actually wanted out of the Case display. I was thinking about adding a standard sized trapper in the same amber bone. But, the guy at the counter looked and only found the box for the display, which had too many shop worn scuffs for my liking... So, I asked if he'd check for any mini trappers in the box.... Hence the amber jigged bone mini trapper. I am impressed with the frames finish, looking almost as if it were hafted to the level of their pocket worn series. Well, not so much on the bone, (which still looks great), but the bolsters. Polish is beautiful overall, but the rounded edges were like the pocket worn. Both blades are nicely centered, walk and talk is good, along with good half stops. This truly is what the buying experience should be like, one looking something over and then cash & carry.... but with ordering online, well... nature of that beast, lol! :-)
