Hi guys!

An friend who loves fishing just asked me if I knew anything about an "old" knife he keeps in his tackle box, it turned out to be a Mora, however I can't find the specific model anywhere on-line , he just told me it's supposed to be called the Mora 6 Blue, apparently his dad bought it a while ago somewhere in Europe, that's all he remembers.

It's the only non-traditional Mora (plastic black and blue handle) with a large blade I've ever seen, it's almost 6, hence the name, I guess.

Any input? Thanks.

The 748 and 731 are modern Moras with 5.75" blades and rubberized grips; the 748 is stainless and has a black/blue handle, and the 731 is carbon and has a black/red handle. The 749 is the same knife with an 8" stainless blade. I own the 749, great knife for yard work or kitchen duty.

Does it look like this? This is the 748

That's exactly the same knife, thanks crunky!

However, there is no much info on-line, I imagine it is some kind of sandvick steel with a 1/4 narrow tang, like most of the moras. Having used the 8-inch version, do you think that having such a narrow tang with a long blade affects its strength?

I don't really know what type of tang it uses, but I don't think it would be much of an issue if used properly and not abused. I'm not planning on batoning it through bricks or throwing it anytime soon, so I'm not real worried :D
I've used mine a good bit in the yard, like a small machete, trimming young palm trees, other bushes, etc and it seems pretty solid. I think it could hold its own as an all around woods knife. I really like the soft grip on these, I was considering ordering up a 731 to replace my classic #3 as my woods knife.

Actually I just a quick search, seems the 711(the smallest version of this knife) has what looks to be a 3/4 tang. Or at least more than a 1/2 tang , along with some pics of it being battoned through some 3"-4" logs... So that inspires a little more confidence.

Thanks for the info, really appreciate it.

My friend is bringing it to this weekend's camping trip, we'll see how it holds up as an all arounder.

I bought myself a 748 a few weeks ago... LOVE IT. Got it on amazon for a total of like $22 (knife and shipping), and while that is a little more than you can get it elsewhere, the shipping was fast. Sharpest knife I own, holds a great edge, and the handle fits my hand like a glove. For it being my first Mora, I chose great. If you like sharp, good looking, great handling knives, buy a 748.

The 711 has a pretty long tang. I would expect the 748/9 and 731 to be the same.

I am a city guy, so I don't see me using it in the woods. But for $20, not like I got screwed on the deal.
