The hammer-in was a success. The classes and the instuctores teaching them where very informative. There was a good turn out, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The classes offered as well as those who taught them where as follows;
Coffin and frame handle design: Dean
Basic forging coal/gas: A.Draper
Soldering of handles and guards: Flournoy
Kydex sheaths: R. Kirk
Scagel handles: L.S.Bethke
Leather sheaths: Rowe
Tag team grinding: Harley/Fogg
Forging damascus: "Flatgrind" Fitch
Design and layout of handles: Cook
Finishing of Japanese blades: Fogg
Tomahawks: Batson
Forging/ gas forge: Crowell
Forging of complex damascus: Newton
Critiquing of M.S. and J.S. knives: B.R.Hughes, Neely, and Williams
And for the first time offered, Establishing knife values: Amy Hinchman of A.G.Russell. This was very informative for the makers as well as collectores.
Sunday started with a Worship sevice for those who wanted to attend at Washington Babtist church. Bring Your Own Blade(show and tell) was nice. The things being done to knives is AMAZING. There are many talented smiths and the quality of the pieces keep increasing.
The cutting competition was cancelled because of rain. I guess the guys will have to wait till this fall to try and knock Flatgrind off his pedestal.
Speaking of the fall hammer-in, it seemes it will be just as good.
I understand Micheal Bell and Vince Evans will be teaching. I can't wait!
