I got a bright idea the other day. Big 5 had an ad for a $7 "hunting" knife.
Now I knew it would be a Chinese POS and was right.

But.........MY idea was to use it as a medium KITCHEN knife after putting an edge on it.

Wellllllll......it doesn't really TAKE much of an edge but it is better than some I got in the knife block.

However, the roughness of the blade sides makes cutting slow and hard.

It is now my garden bonsai knife and I have been using it to grub moss out of the gravel in the pots.

It's okay for that.

Live and learn.

If you knew it was a Chinese POS why did you order it?
Of course you can't answer that question. I wish you could because it would help the rest of us that keep doing the same kind of thing.
Don't feel too bad about it. I bet a lot more of us do it than are willing to admit.

^^this is what parent knives warn their children knives about becoming if they don't stay in school & keep away from drugs :D

I walked right up to the clerk at Big 5, took a nice long look at the metal monster and carried it to the register.

I had decided that ..... I ..... could put an edge on this gorgeous, bent rivet, Velcro sheathed, Rockwell 12, Made in China, hopeless, SEVEN DOLLAR .... knife (?)

This illustrates the ABSOLUTE stupidity of the American consumer.

I can't even plead being DRUNK!

I may scratch "RUANA" on it and file off the China markings and put it on eBay with an "I don't no mutch aboot nivez" description and see if I can sell it for more than it costs to ship it.

Nah.... I'll keep using it as a weeder. After all, how many of you have a sheathed WEEDER system?

May send a pic to Blade mag. "The knife I use"

 :D

I just use useless knives for junkers, i don't care if they get chipped or badly blunted. My old Smith and wesson is one such knife, the steel is so poor at edge retention even picking at the thick skin on my fingers will dull the edge:)
