Yesterday I received this gorgeous Northfield #33 Conductor in Gabon Ebony - an incredibly generous gift from our brother here on the forum "bearsquared". I've been ogling the #33 for about a year, especially the 2-blade with Clip/Coping. I'd posted a "WTB" in my sig line for the past few weeks in hopes one might turn up. Well, Rupert stepped up and said he had one. Seeing the pics he sent, I quickly realized this was exactly what I'd been hoping to find. Even the bale is something I've been intrigued by more and more lately (and a feature I've not had on a pocket knife since my Cub Scout days in the early 70's!). We conversed back and forth in numerous emails and by the time we were done he insisted on gifting this knife to me. What an incredibly kind and beautiful gesture. I find it difficult to adequately express my gratitude to you sir. I've been fondling and marveling over it since it's arrival (it's on the desk next to me as I type this). My Peanut is realizing that a genuine rival has come onto the scene!
The #33 is very slim with it's single spring. The gorgeous, nearly-black Gabon Ebony is so beautiful to the touch. It's size makes it very pocketable. It is a lil bit bigger than a Peanut, but NOT BY MUCH. Many who find the Peanut "just too darned small" might find this is a nice compromise.
The bale? I've not found it to be annoyance when in the pocket. I intend to make a thong/fob sort of thing for it one of these days and try that route. Even without, it's not an annoyance to me and it gives the knife a certain character that I like.
A huge and heartfelt thanks to you Rupert, I'm very touched and pleased with this wonderful beauty! http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif
