Yesterday I received this gorgeous Northfield #33 Conductor in Gabon Ebony - an incredibly generous gift from our brother here on the forum "bearsquared". I've been ogling the #33 for about a year, especially the 2-blade with Clip/Coping. I'd posted a "WTB" in my sig line for the past few weeks in hopes one might turn up. Well, Rupert stepped up and said he had one. Seeing the pics he sent, I quickly realized this was exactly what I'd been hoping to find. Even the bale is something I've been intrigued by more and more lately (and a feature I've not had on a pocket knife since my Cub Scout days in the early 70's!). We conversed back and forth in numerous emails and by the time we were done he insisted on gifting this knife to me. What an incredibly kind and beautiful gesture. I find it difficult to adequately express my gratitude to you sir. I've been fondling and marveling over it since it's arrival (it's on the desk next to me as I type this). My Peanut is realizing that a genuine rival has come onto the scene! :)

The #33 is very slim with it's single spring. The gorgeous, nearly-black Gabon Ebony is so beautiful to the touch. It's size makes it very pocketable. It is a lil bit bigger than a Peanut, but NOT BY MUCH. Many who find the Peanut "just too darned small" might find this is a nice compromise.

The bale? I've not found it to be annoyance when in the pocket. I intend to make a thong/fob sort of thing for it one of these days and try that route. Even without, it's not an annoyance to me and it gives the knife a certain character that I like.

A huge and heartfelt thanks to you Rupert, I'm very touched and pleased with this wonderful beauty! http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Excellent!

My favorite kind of thread.

I have the whittler in ebony and completely agree, it is a wonderful knife. I think it is one of the most elegant patterns GEC have made. I would love to see them make a jack on this frame.

Hey Jeff, you're very welcome, I'm glad it's found a good home!

Please post some pics once you've added the fob, I'd love to see it :)

Great story of generousity... and, that is a neat little knife (I too like the look of the bail on it). Nice! :)

That is a beautiful knife. I love the jet black ebony:) The generosity on this forum never ceases to amaze me

Great-looking knife and a wonderful gesture :)

Congrats! A very very nice knife for the pocket, and a reaffirmation of what a great place this is. A trued family.

What a great gift and a great knife. I really like the swelled centers on that and it seems it would fit really nice in the hand and be really nice for general all around purposes.

This place is great because of the people like the OP and bearsquared.

Thanks to both for giving us a light in this dark world

Very generous gift!! If I could only have 1 pocket knife, the #33 would make it to the final round and very easily go all the way!!

Really great stuff! Congratulations!

If you haven't already, take a good close look at the bail itself. The NORTHFIELD stamp is a nice touch, yes?

Here's the same, on my White Owl:

Yes, the "Northfield" embossed in the bale is really neat, I've always liked the additional touch.

Question to those having GEC's with a bale... It it well pinned into place? Ie; any issues with it popping off (would be heart-broken to lose a knife this way!)?

I'm really enjoying the fine lines of this lil beauty. It does have "elegant" lines to it. :)
