This is a painting I saw in the local gallery which caught my attention immediately... Such a beauty, don't you think?

I dont know why, but I began to laugh really hard to myself trying to figure out the meaning of it all. That being said, there is no doubt that I would hang it proudly in my "hobby room"

The original painting is "Napoleon crossing the Alps", by Paul Delaroche, comissioned in 1848 and painted in 1850.

This painting, which features Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte on a mule, was intended to be a more realistic portrait than the works of French painter Jacques-Louis David. David had previously done a series of paintings with the same name, portraying Napoleon on a battle horse, in a symbolic, heroic fashion.
