Its not often you can hunt to order but every now and then it comes together...Local knowledge and lots of scouting had myself and a good mate in a prime spot at dusk last night...An easy 60 yard shot from his left hand sako chambered in .260,and it was time for the hard work...I never knew i had PACKHORSE and GUTTER tattoed on my forehead but thats how it panned out.....This stag came second heaviest at our local comp at 116 kilo gutted....It was beaten by stag on left by 2 kilos but certainly had the best head...13 points of wild red stag, reasonably symmetrical and a one shot kill is a great effort.....Heres some pics................FES

And yea the Scout got to play.............

Sweet! That is a beautiful animal.

I hope, some time in my life, to get a trophy near as nice as that!

Good work fes (& oppo).

It looks like it was a successful day all round.

Enjoy.

Fes great pics. I love this kind thing. Looks like great success and I'm sure great memories. Those stags are beautiful. My home state season is still a few months away and with my safari a week away I am getting more excited.

Awesome!! What racks ! And a rack of boar to boot .

Looks like a good time was had by all. It's neat to see what everybody else in the area got. We don't have any gatherings like that around here that I'm aware of. When we used to have to drive in to check-in stations, you would see some there. Now that we have electronic check-in, you pretty much only see what the other guys at your camp kill. You don't even get to see people driving with them since you can't have it on "display". It has to be covered up so nobody gets offended, or some other such nonsense.

Congrats to you and your friend, Fes! Thanks for sharing. It makes me wish it was time for deer season here.

That is exactly where a knife should be.
A hunter's paradise.

Beautiful Trophy Fes, and what a great knife to share in the memory with.

I am surprised and saddened to hear that...If it wasnt for the social interaction at these events im not sure i would even bother....The younger hunters still parade through town with their stags and boars str apped to the bonnets of their trucks, and i hope it always remains like that...One good hunt makes up for the many that arent.....Thanks for all the positive comments........FES

Fez, that picture of the knife atop the antlers is primordial. I am taken back by it. Thanks for sharing that with me

One shot... That's the way to do it, if ya can. Nice one, he's a real brute! Congratulations on a successful hunt, and glad you were properly knifed for the expedition. :D
