I had an idea. Don't know why, just popped in my head and I thought it would be cool to see. Most people that aren't us see Beckers in a catalog as plain, big black knives. Yet they are probably THE most customized factory knives out there. I thought it would be cool for a poster sized ad (scalable of course) consisting of tiles of all the numerous pictures of customized Beckers that litter the pages of this forum. Stripped blades, cliched blades, re-ground blades, patina'd blades, etched blades, micarta handles, colored liners, alone and in the hands of the users. Batoning logs, doing this, doing that. I honestly cannot think of another knife brand that has that much soul when it comes to the customization of the end user. The top could have the Ka-Bar/Becker logo, and the lower part of the page would say "What will you do with yours?"
THIS is what Becker is all about. Not cutting leather jackets stuffed with meat or jamming them through car hoods. Not being "Tacti-Cool". The few knife brands out there with a tad of customization are all customization from a menu of options by the manufacturer. With Becker, it's different. The customization comes from the mind of the end user.
I think an ad like this full page in the few good knife magazines would catch a lot of eyes. Even if it wasn't ever used by Ka-Bar, WE could use it.
No one ever heard of a "Cold Steel-Head", after all...right?
I'd do it myself, but I don't have that skillset. I would help collect the pictures.
