With the wide availability of video of knife used and testing, I just wanted to give some of the newer members a hint/tip. Whenever you see something on youtube that looks really impressive in terms of knife use, see what comparisons are made with a knife you know something about.

I may also suggest that whenever one sees an impressive video, try replicating that video with a Mora or Buck 110. The most obvious one lately was some light chopping of bamboo with a very expensive folder, after which the user was able to slice paper easily. Try that with a Buck 110, and I'd be shocked if the result wasn't the same.

This is an example of why I don't test sharpness with computer paper. You can have a knife with rolls in it, that would barely cut your skin, and it can still push cut computer paper. If I have nothing else on hand I can determine sharpness based on how it is cutting through the paper.

Ya some of those test vids are kinda stupid lol how often do you use your folder to chop through a 2/4?

i regularly use my knives at work for cutting plastic straps, paper tape, normal plastic tape/fiber reinforced tape, cardboard and sometimes glue. the glue we use is a type of hot glue. it looks exactly like balistics gel and is very dense. even after cutting up many blocks of glue, i can still slice through paper easily. i normally carry a carbon fiber sage and let everyone at work use it if asked(call me stupid, i don't care. its a work knife, nothing more). the people at work say its really sharp and theyre afraid of it lol. paper cut tests may be valid on my part because of the paper tape, although that stuff is usually pretty thin.

Thats all I'm getting at here. There are plenty o videos that show stuff like stabbing a car door, cutting a small amount of cardboard etc. The implication is that other knives cant do it. However, a properly sharpened knife will cut and do light chops and still slice paper with no trouble. The reason it looks impressive is most people have never tried it.
