A better sheath for a Mora

I bought a mora tradesman triflex and I own a Mora army model, not the clipper, but the regular army model green handled stainless. The only problem I have with these knives is that the sheath stinks. the retention is nil and I don't want to spend more than the cost of the knife on a custom sheath. I like kydex well enough, so how do I make a kydex sheath myself? Or is there a better option?

Thanks for your help

Contact Eric @ On Scene Tactical. He makes great kydex sheaths at a very good price. Google On Scene Tactical and you will find his web site.

Moras are great knives for the money. Congrats:thumbup:

It still looks like I'll spend double the cost of the blade on a sheath. Does anyone know how to make kydex sheaths at home?

The problem is by the time you spend the money on the tools and materials and shipping you still get a homemade sheath that will cost as much if not more than a first rate one by Eric.Buy a good sheath from him and it will protect you and the knife, don'ttry and cheap out here.Dave:rolleyes:

I suppose that makes sense, although I usually ignore the cost of tools as I will always have that tool in the future, it's not just a one time thing. Plus I'd learn a new skill. If no one tells me how to form kydex myself I will break down and buy one from Eric.
thanks again

There's a bunch of info in Shop Talk about how to make kydex sheaths. Don't expect your first efforts to look great, but you can expect to make a usable sheath.

I own the KJ Erisson Mora 711, and I ordered an EXCELLENT sheath for it from Normark at http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/ with a firesteel holder. . . .

Excellent, excellent set up. Very reasonable price. I would be more than willing to pay double for such a set up. I feel I truly own a real survival knife set up.

Blade fits very securly in the new sheath, and the firesteel brand from http://www.magfireusa.com/about/index.html also fits very securly in the loop. I wish I was more computer savvy and was able to put a picture on. Hopefully I ll have the chance soon to do so. . . .

Overall, high quality all around at very reasonable prices, from the Mora to the Sheath, to the firesteel brand. . . .

Regards,

Michael
