So folks have been talking a lot about Joe X- that's actually what got me on board and why I have a BM en route eta tomorrow!
I was thinking about testing that would really be relevant, fun, and new and i was thinking about some skull testing i did in the past and it dawned on me...

Yall think you could sever a free hanging arm? Which model would you choose to do it?

Don't waste your money on an expensive prop...do what Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel does. Pork loin for flesh cutting tests, a rack of ribs to see what damage the edge might incur when striking bone.

Stage it in a safe area, garage perhaps...use mineral oil on the blade, spread out as much painting plastic you can and try to minimize flying meat without sacrificing your test.

Make your cuts, wash off your meat...cook, eat, collate your data and report back to us...with pictures if possible. 😂

The tatami mats are good practice...traditionally their soaked in water for 24 hours and wrapped around a 1" diameter wooden rod. 6" diameter for arm simulation, 8" diameter for leg simulation.

I've never been able to go through the 6" diameter with anything less than a Busse AK47...and THAT was tough. If your using a short sword or big chopper, be glad if you cut the mat & splinter the dowel.

Tatami mats have gotten expensive though, like everything else. I expect we'll have a tax on air here in the U.S. before long 😔.

That's cool and fun- I don't disagree at all-

And yet the potential value of scientifically accurate human limbs interests me greatly haha

There's a video on YouTube of a guy chopping a Pig Leg bone in half with his Swamp Rat Free Reign Cool Test Maybe get one with meat on it and see if you can cut through.
The Scientific human limb does intrigue me though.
🤔🧐🍺🍺

There used to be a video floating around of a Gladius making short work of a road killed whitetail. They had the deer hung from the front of a tractor, if I remember correctly. It was an impressive video of what a sharp Gladius could do. The swings looked effortless.

Yup, for better or worse I'm that guy haha

I'm hoping to do more BF videos- ig has become so toxic that I think this is a better place to be- and it's better for the community as a whole.

Yeah it's funny how each entity has its Pros/Cons.
I'm sure you will do Good! :)
