A big b and an anvil on my knife

I got a knife in trade a while ago, and I would like to find out who the maker is. The only marking on the blade is the outline of an anvil with a capital B inside of it. It is a 3" drop point blade, and what looks to be a maple handle. If any of you guys recognize this mark let me know. If this should be in the Levine forum sorry, I just figured I would get a better response over here.

That sounds like the mark of Robert Blasingame, 2906 Swanson Lane, Kilgore, TX 75662, Ph: 903-984-8144. I have also seen his knives marked with his last name over top of an anvil. Along with hunters he makes bowies, daggers and fighters and some of the nicest slipjoints that I have seen. He does historic reproductions as well.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the response KWM, any idea where I could see some of his work to compare my knife too? Any websites carry his stuff or does he have his own website? Have his knives been featured in any mags, or books? Thanks again.

There is an article on Blasingame in the June issue of Knives Illustrated.

Pictures of his knives have appeared in the 2001 and 2002 Knives annuals. None of the pictures in those books looks anything like the knife you mentioned. The best way to find out more would be to contact Robert and ask him about the knife. From the mark you describe I am pretty certain that he is the maker.
