Picked this up today at a gun shop outside of town that I sometimes frequent. It is a Remington branded knife, but made by Camillus. It's in the Barlow pattern, and though I like this knife, almost passed on it because it has what likely are Delrin handles. But, it is neat anyway. Paid 27 bucks for it ($25 + tax), so I believe I got a good deal on a knife made by the now defunct Camillus firm :-)

I love it! I'd say you got a very good deal.:thumbup::thumbup:

Sort of looks like a cross between a slim trapper and a barlow.

Thanks! :-) He had $35 on it, which I thought was good... but after I looked it over and said I'd take it, he said he'd even knock another 10 bucks off! Put a smile on my face! :-)

Yeah, it being a big barlow is cool.... but that whole plastic look of delrin.. well, just wish it were bone, or some other natural material. I do like the bullet shield! :-)

Just checked out the COA that came with it, it stating the steel used for the blade is a carbon steel (0170-6C). I was thinking stainless like my other Camillus knife.... Hmm... never heard of this 0170-6C before. That is a good thing, keeps my collecting interesting and diverse :-)

Better known as "Cold Steel Carbon V".
Camillus used to make the Carbon V bladed knives for Cold Steel. If memory serves, they used to run those blades at 58HRC.

0170-6C was quite similar to KaBar 1095 Cro Van. Both are low alloy steels containing a nominal 0.95% Carbon and with small additions of Chromium and Vanadium. The two alloys differ in a couple of the other other minor constituents.

Camillus also used 0170-6C when they made the Becker knives. Doesn't take too much to get it sharp on my BK9.

Moore Makers too.

That big barlow is a bargain at $35, and a smoking deal at $25. Yes, the handles are delrin.

Niice.
I like that delrin. Its different to Schrade delrin. Its different but similar to Staglon (as found on Schrade Uncle Henrys (still delrin)). Not as Staggy but still good.
