A little while ago Dex ran a contest celebrating going orange and achieving 1000 posts. I was fortunate enough to win what I thought was one item. I ended up receiving more than expected and through a conversation on the phone, gained a lot of knowledge from him as well as affirmed in my mind that Dex is a really good guy and will bend over backwards in the name of karma.
Thank you Dex for everything. I am still in awe.
This is what was waiting for me when I got home from work.
I was expecting a leather sheath, not a knife to go with it... Then I opened the box and fell in love.
Not only was there a BK-11 in the box, there was also the Ka-bar micarta scales as well as an awesome custom leather scout style sheath for it.
Just look at the burnishing and little things that all add up to make this a work of art.
He also included a pair of stainless bolts for the micarta and two sections of 550 cord so I can make a lanyard for the knife. I failed to get a picture of the 550 cord though...
I plan on removing the coating on this BK-11 and force a patina. This will be with me when I go fishing for sure. I have never carried a knife scout style so I am sure there will be a learning curve. Dex gave me a bunch of tips and tricks about this sheath and scout style carry. He has been carrying his BK-11 in a sheath just like this one everyday for 3 years.
Expect to see this setup in a lot of pictures in the future guys!
Thank you Dex!
