A little under two weeks ago I packed up three Buck knives (422 4 pin, 549 fillet knife, and a 279) to get a little TLC from Buck. Well as usual, I had great service. The 422 has seen some hard use to say the least, but it was still going strong. The tip had been broken off long ago and reprofiled. It was a do it all kind of knife. One knight someone sat the 422 on top of a grill and melted one side of the slabs of plastic . Anyway I had the two other knives that had a few issues and thought I would send in the 422 in chance they MIGHT be able to do something about it. I knew this was something that they should not have covered. I did not know how much they would charge or even if they could do anything for my beloved 422 since it was so old and DCed. I left a number for Joe to call me at and let me know if they could do anything or not and some prices.

Today I look in the mail box and I see a package :D (I have not seen any of those in a while). I open it in a hurry like a kid at Christmas time .
What do I see three knives that look good as new. The 422 had a new handle and a new blade :thumbup:. The fillet knife is back to new. The lock up on the 273 seems to be great now. All shavin sharp. I looked at the list and I see NO CHARGES.

I just can not say how great of a company Buck is. I am so greatful they were able to bring my 422 back to life.

Thank you Joe and everyone at Buck Knives

John

The wife has the camera today and as soon as she gets off, we are heading out of town for another camping trip. The 422 will be with me so I will get some shots of it and the other Bucks that tag along for the trip.

Man I am happy to have my good old friend the 422 coming with me this weekend.

the 422 is a fine pocket carry!
and now you know also why so many carry a Buck
it is not jest a knife .. its also the friends that stand behind it..

John,
I have to admit, I did not hold out much hope for that 422. The biggest problem with them is that it is hard to remove any of the rivets without cracking or marring up the side. Then, the sides sometimes crack with they are riveted back together.
And to make matters worse, they showed me the knives before they shipped and I gave the thumbs down on the 422. It did have a new side where your old melted one was, but there was something that I did not like about it. I cant remember what it was now but they did have to take it apart a second time to make it better.
Anyway, I am glad you are happy with them and I'm glad they are back in service. :)

Joe,
I have to say, I have never found a company, or someone in a company such as yourself, take customer satisfaction with a product/consumer relations as seriously as y'all. ya never cease to amaze me, thankyou for the great ends to which you and Buck go. It is appreciated. And I never have sent anything in, it just is nice to know you are there :)

Always great to hear a company taking care of their customers!

I have no doubt that Buck will make things right but it's still heart warming to hear it from time to time.

Joe, I didn't think that my 422 would last about 25 years... ... But it did and it's still a Great little knife for $14.99... ... I had Leroy Sharpen it for the first time the other day when I was at his shop... :D ... I can see that it would be hard to fix... ... I sure hope I never have to have it fixed... But just in case I bought me a few more for Back up... ;) ... I try never to go anywhere with out it and sometimes I take a 110 or a 112 with me just in case... :D
