A while ago I asked for tips on clip point knives with the Turkish or California style clip.

You guys gave some good suggestions, but the one that really spoke to me were the Schrade 93OT. The initial plan was to get a single bladed knife, but I really fell for the clip and sheepfoot combo on the 93OT.

After a little complaining from me about the knife not being made in the US any more I got an unexpected message from JustinR.

He apparently also like those knives and offered to give me a user he had. I accepted his generous offer, and he even refused my offer to pay for the international shipping.

Here are some pictures!

The sheepfoot got a little regrind to make it pointier like a wharncliffe. I also put a swedge on it.

The tip on the clip was a little bent when I got it, and it broke off when I tried to straighten it. So the clip unfortunately needed a regrind. it's a little shorter now, and I dropped the point a little. This thing is very pointy now. The spine has been rounded

I hope Justin doesn't take offense because I modified the knife he gave me. It was a way to personalize it, and make it "mine".

I enjoy using it as a work knife along with a modern multi tool. It's a good combination for me.

The only issue is that I can't get it as sharp as some other knives. Any tips on sharpening SS USA Schrades?

lastly I have to thank you again JustinR! It wont be forgotten!

Nice gesture, and nice knife :)
I started a thread about this very Schrade model some long ago. A very generous member of this forum found out about the pattern, got it, and then gifted it to me some months later. I'm not a fan of Turkish clips, but find the "main clip/sheepafoot secondary" combo possibly the best possible one out there.
Mine is a US made Version, and it has become my dedicated gardening knife (I only use the sheepsfoot).
Don't know about the steel, but mine has an awesome thin grind and sharpens easily to a very nice edge (and I'm not a master at sharpening, not by a long shot).

I've never seen a 93OT that wasn't Schrade+ steel (but with Schrade there is an exception to EVERY rule!) You might try ceramic sticks or a diamond stone to sharpen Schrade+ stainless. OH

Ps Nice knife and nice job on the mod.

Great looking knife and a great gesture :)

It seems you almost have a good Schrade collection in Good Ol' Norge!

The blade selection is just great ...!

That is a damn shame about the tip, I wish I had noticed that before I mailed it as I would have sent you another. I have 3 I rotate as my carry knives and the rest get stuffed in my nightstand.

Regardless, mods look great, that new clip looks like it can almost function as an exacto knife!

I'm at a loss on the sharpening, I never put that one on a stone but I can normally sharpen schrade steel up nicely on an old pocket stone.

Hope it serves you well, I know I sure enjoy the pattern. I'd love to see GEC replicate it on their 66 frame.

My bad. I was wrong earlier and got confused: my knife is a SS Schrade+ as well, so I edited my post.
I wrote it in a hurry, then later I realized the carbon steel Schrade is my dad's (not a 93OT though).
I have no idea if there is a carbon version as well. :o

Don't worry about the bent tip Justin, The modified blade works great for me.

If GEC make one like this I'll be all over it. Especially if the clip blade is a thin one like the one on their 66 slim.

By the way, I can get it sharp, but not to it's full potential. Well, this knife is for work and not for shaving hair.
