Reading Adam's (Desrosiers) post about what he bought at Blade made me feel like thanking all the knifemakers out there that buy other makers work. Ryan Weeks did that with me and it brings a little different kind of satisfaction. Not that I don't appreciate non-makers buying my knives of course (still amazed that people are willing to pay for something I did :o). But I must say that when it comes from a fellow maker, it brings a particular kind of satisfaction. If that makes any sense.

I also want to apologize that I sadly can't afford to do that for now, all funds are needed for the craft. But I promise myself that I will someday, so many great makers out there I would love to own work from.

Thanks again.

Well for me, I love making knives, I love looking at knives, I love touching them, I love using them. So its only natural to want to have some of the absolutely fabulous knives that you see here. My only problem, like you Patrice, is I don't have a bank balance to support my addiction. Having said that I do have a couple of other makers knives, sadly not enough of them. And there are a couple of makers who have some of mine. What a great compliment!
Cheers Keith

Thanks Patrice. I think most of us makers do what we do because we truly love knives. It only makes sense that we want
Just about every one we see! Unfortunately very few of us have the resources to collect them. I don't have the disposable income to collect many of the knives I would like either. that's one of the reasons I like to swap knives with other makers as well if I can't afford one of theirs. I also think its important to support each other in this craft. I sometimes think it can make all the difference to a new maker to sell a knife. Almost like a trickle that starts a flood. As makers, we can see the talent and dedication of another maker even if they are not famous. We can help each other to get "discovered", and that helps us all, even the real collectors.

Thanks for that point of view Adam, and sorry for the late reply. That is a very nice thing to do. I did not think of it that way but that is exactly what Ryan Weeks did with me, helped me to get over the trauma of my first sale and I am so grateful to him for doing that. I will have to do that with new makers when I can afford it.

Just saw this Patrice, I purchased one of your knives because I like it! I can see that you put your heart and soul into your knives and you are always trying to move forward. I would like to see you put some up for sale.

I started out as a Collector, there is something nice about carrying something someone else created. The feeling is even better when you know the maker and look up to them. I have a list of makers new and old that I am constantly following their work and usually try to buy one of their knives along the way. I was fortunate to meet Adam at Blade and he is on the list as well.

I also buy other makers knives, I like knives,If I see a makers knife I like ,if the funds are here , I buy them..
I have 20 or so knives from other makers..Some day 1 of each on this forum one at at time.
Great thing to do , post this about buying other makers goods.
