A bigger Izula?

So 3" is great... I mean, really it is. The only thing I haven't been able to do with it is things that an axe or a kitchen knife would be better suited for.

I was thinking though, wouldn't a slightly bigger Izula be cool? Not necessarily an Izula, but I really like the handle design and it would be neat to see it on a bigger blade. I've seen it on the EsKabar but I don't really like that blade design. I think an Izula that was 3.5-4.5" would be perfect for like, the Izula's bigger brother.

So I'm sure I'm not the only one to have thought so, but is it even a remote possibility?

There was a thread a while back about a bushcraft designed IZULA, with a 5 inch blade? I'm sure someone will stumble in here with the picture the person rendered with their idea.

Very interesting concept, but it seems most of what people may want modified about existing ESEE knives can be found in the rest of their line.

Oh, yeah, I think I saw that too.

@dsandiego,

Yeah, I'm actually thinking about getting a 4, but really what I mean is that it would be nice to have the Izula handle with a little larger blade. I like the skeletonized handle. There's the EsKaBar, but that's not ESEE, and I don't like the blade shape, but it's a good example of what I mean by a slightly bigger knife using the Izula's handle.

Izula-II is perfect as is.

From your description an ESEE-3 might be perfect for you.

if you want the skeleton handle you should pick up a hest before they are all gone.

take it easy

Cricket, just got mine Saturday, really surprised how big the handle is. I have a real hard time finding small blades to fit my hands & the HEST is pretty close. Was seriously thinking about ordering another, dad always said if you liked something, buy two because you could guarantee they will quit making it . . . so true with most of my hunting & fishing stuff over the years. :)
Be safe.

You're talking about the Izula III. Due out in the Spring. But Jeff's keeping it quiet to avoid all the "will this knife ship on this date" threads.

The irony! Oh well, RYP plans on having them tooled up and produced in stainless it sounds like. So don't worry about that... yet. And if you do you can always pounce the DPx forum and spaz out there ;).

God bless,
Adam

Oh geez! Now we're going to have 5 threads devoted to "when is the Izula III coming out, how much and what dealers are accepting pre-orders?

Seriously, the ESEE 3 fits the role the OP was asking about. I can't see them scaling up the regular Izula "just cuz" it'd be cool.

I do not mean this as disrespectful to anyone however I just don't understand to constant requests for larger knives. A small compact knife with a nice belly, just like the Izula or ESEE-3 is all I ever need in a real life application.

If I was going to request anything at all it would be for a "big boned" Izula or ESEE-3.

The Izula II is durn near perfect. No built-in vibrator for pocket carrying pleasure, but that can be remedied.

Well, I thought I explained why I wanted a longer Izula just fine. 3" is fine for me, but it's just on the short side for some things that I'd like to be able to use the Izula for. Not to say that a 3.5" - 4.5" would cut up a ham as well as a kitchen knife, but it would probably do a bit better of a job than 3".

As far as the 3 and 4 go... Yeah, they might fit the bill, but what about the skeletonized handle? I just really like the ability to paracord wrap, or use it without any scales at all.

Maybe they should just offer skeletonized versions of their other knives?

Well the Izula is the Izula. But an RC-3 would definitely be of interest to you. Its an interest to me anyway :)

I totally agree on handle design alone.

I have a 3 & 4 and they are great knives, but they are not what you are talking about and don't fill the bill.

This is not a cut, complaint, or begging for it to be made either. It is just a fact.

Some of us like the handle design of the IZULA better, and if given a choice would choose it. If ESEE makes it, I will buy it.

If they don't, eventually someone else will... then I'll buy that.

However, I'd just as soon ESEE do it... cause I like and am impressed with their whole program. I would much rather spend my $$$$ with ESEE. :)

Typical dudes. Always wishing they had a slightly bigger one. :D
