A bigger Native

I may be prejudiced but I really think that the Native line of the Spyderco family is the best all around knife.
Flippers are a great popular marketing line. Yes the Mantra is a nice knife. The blade is too light for a flipper and it is overpriced.
I would like to see a larger Native. Something akin to the original Manix. A large beefy over built lockback. Something that is more in line with a philosophy of a Cold Steel Recon. A stout lockback 3.5 inches, G10 slabs, with a decent blade steel.
Sorry to rant. Just love basic over built
lockback knives.

I'm highly prejudiced. All knives (well, maybe not all) should be 3 inch HSS liner locks. But I will buy the native when it comes out in maxamet.

Rumor had it that there were two in development.
The Shaman and Chief.
Haven't heard many updates lately though.

i agree, the native is a grate little all around folder that seems to find its way in my pocket 4 out of 7 days a week! i no spyderco once did make a larger native,i think as a experimental model!its on display at the factory at GC.hope they bring that one back, longer blade and shape as well(chief i think it was called)

I like the Native 5 a lot, but I do wish it had a little more usable edge--even 1/8" would make a big difference to me.

+1
Sal commented few times about expanding Native family to include 3.5"Shaman (compression lock, sorry I prefer midlock as well) and 4" bladed Chief (in a back burner).
We need to wait.

I remember seeing the prototype for the original Chief concept somewhere and liked it a lot. Still hoping it sees the light of day, too, Roman.

If I remember correctly original Native Chief is on display at SFO. It has the same type of swedge like original Native. I am much more interested in Shaman. 3.5" blade is the perfect size for me. Proto had compression lock. I strongly prefer midlock, but will be able to live with compression lock. And as an icing on the cake proto of Shaman had contoured scales. I cannot wait for this knife. In addition to these mini Natives were shown on Amsterdam meet.

I would love to see a native with a 3.5" blade and no forward choil. That would be one hell of a knife
