Hi All:

Things are still slowly making their way off of my bench.

Having some good sunlight in my part of the world, thought I would snap some pics for your enjoyment and scrutiny.

Any comments are appreciated, positive or negative.

First, a utility in 1095, brine quenched.

It wont keep the cord wrap, I have some curly walnut im going to slap on there. Thinking Black liners.

Second up, a camp knife in 1095 with Tan g10 and blue liners. It has a super lazy 40 grit finish complete with HT scale for the blade.
Ive done a couple of these frog style sheaths, I really like them. Being able to remove the blade so you can comfortably sit back down into your camp chair is huge plus to me.

Hey Sparljo!

Nice blades! I really like both of them! I would maybe round the handle in the chopper a little more, but that's my own preference. *I* really like the "lazy finish" on workhorse blades...and your camp blade screams "chop with me! chop with me!" :) Keep up the good work!

Where are you located exactly? I'm near Ottawa (the other side of the river :D).

Thanks DefaultUser.

The handle could be rounded more, you are right. I tend to stop when everything is comfy, in this case I stopped a little shy.... I was trying to prevent rolling of the handle while chopping.

I appreciate you noticing that :)

Im located in Cambridge.... about 5-6 hours away.

Im not sold on the lazy finish yet, but the camp blade has been used and abused (tested) pretty extensively.

Any chance I could get stock thickness and blade length on the utility?

It looks like an awful wide/thick final bevel!

The utility is 7 1/4 inches overall, 3 1/8 cutting edge.
The camp knife is just shy of 14 inches with 8.5 inches cutting edge.

The bevel on this is thick right now, yes. After the handle it will see the grinder and then waterstones. When finished, it will likely still be somewhat thick by my standards, but be excellent for general utility. It will also stand up to a good measure of abuse by the non knife person who is going to end up with it.

Thanks for showing interest Luckybob.
