My wife took the path of "If you can't beat him, join him" long ago when it comes to buying knives. Her birthday is coming up, and although she will get flowers, I also want to get her a knife. Now, the one I had in mind is the Fallkniven Model P/3GB. I love blue, she loves blue! Win! Win! Right?;)

I have absolutly no experience with Fallkniven, but have heard good-great things about them. I am looking for some feedback on the company, but also some experience with this knife in particular.:)

Would anyone like to chime in, so I may make a solid buying decision? Any help is welcome and appreciated with much thanks.:)

I bought my lovely partner a Spyderco Kopa in gold lip pearl. It is strikingly pretty, great geometry, and very sharp....out of the box I might add. She carries it in her purse as a money clip. My adult daughter does the same with a Spyderco Co-pilot.

I played with the Fallkniven P. Very nice, as perhaps all Fallknivens are.
But isn't a smaller knife a better option as a gift for a woman? I'm thinking about the Fallkniven U2. From other brands, compact Mokis, the spyderco Kiwi, etc come to mind.

On a less-knife-focused level: are you certain that she wouldn't rather have something else for her birthday? Like, a nice romantic weekend somewhere. Etc.

A romantic weekend over a new knife, whats wrong with you :D

I would love to take her somewhere, but I have to young ones that have never stayed over at anothers home. It would be a nightmare. My wife would be worrying all weekend, and the person taking care of the kids would be pulling their hair out.;)

I understand. I guess I was just saying that there are perhaps other gifts that would make her happier than something YOU'd like to have. Like, perhaps, a one day "beauty & health farm" treatment. Etc.

This is probably less money than you would like to spend, but if you check out the Boker forum, there are two gentlemen in there that i can think of off the top of my head that can make scales for the Subcom/wharcom/trance knives out of ANYTHING and in any design you could imagine. Might give you the ability to create something a little more personal. lots of their handywork in http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=502259 that thread. Potterma and Derek24 are their names. Daywalker is also very active in that forum, he is the designer of the CLB line of knives. Some amazing craftmenship and customization in that thread. I've been considering getting my GF a custom Wharcom for her birthday as well, she currently owns a SOG flash and a CRKT who's name i don't recall.
