I know bladeforums it usually the best place to buy and sell your knives, however I like check on "that auction site" every now and then. When you type in "busse knives" it seems like every other item is either a paracord lanyard or a lanyard bead. For whatever reason this just bugs the heck out of me, I want to see knives, not pieces of braided string!:p Now only if all of those beads where made out of INFI! lol

If u simply add a - (-laynard) or whatever unique key word, BAM! ; )

Also another pointer that you wont get from me any other time, just use busse, not busse knife. Its easy to sort thru the bs now that ebay requires a pic

Typing that will omit the lanyard results?

People use the Busse brand, along with several others, to sell their products. I really have a problem with that practice when it isn't something specifically made for a Busse, like a sheath.

Haha, yes! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels this way!

But yeah, -lanyard AND -lanyards will block them for ya.

yep, what dericdesmond said: use the (-) sign to remove words. So, if you type in Busse and you get a lot of "Busse lanyards" and "busse sheaths," all you gotta do is type in "busse -lanyard -sheath" and it won't return any hits that have those words in them.

Adam thats called key word spamming, flagable offense. Report em

Eta ive called em and griped about laynards but its ok I guess. I told em you could put x_____anything with laynard and it would fit(ge tolitel handle, toyota gear shifter etc) Imo bs. Sheath/Kydex on the other hand not so much as it truly is specific : )

I understand why they use the keyword, heck I probably would too if I were selling them. Just felt like ranting about it, lol. That and also the fact that you don't see too many low start, no reserve auctions anymore. That doesn't apply to only Busse and Busse kin knives though, but to multiple categories as well. I miss the old ebay that felt more like a big garage sale where there were deals to be had.

I've given up on reporting anything to ebay. Too many time's I've reported people who are selling counterfeit knives and nothing is done about it. Yeah, a listing or two gets removed, but nothing happens to the seller and they just relist the item.

Regarding the lanyards, the keywords are accurate as they do "fit BUSSE, SCRAP YARD, SWAMP RAT", lol, however they should come up separately from the knives. I'm in agreement regarding sheaths though, as they are made specifically for the knives, they go hand in hand with the search results.

Some need to sell, some want to. The more options the merrier ehh?

Yep, nothing wrong with someone wanting to make a few bucks on the knives. It's just all of the ones with a high starting bid seem to sit and keep getting relisted. Kind of takes away from what an auction is. The few knives that get listed with a low starting point always get a lot of activity.

So if your search term includes '-lanyard', then any actual Busse knife that includes a lanyard will be excluded from your results. Right?

I certainly agree with the rant of the OP. All that sheath, bead, lanyard crap cluttering up the results is a PITA.

I just experimented with excluding the search terms, typing "-lanyard" will omit any items that have that in the listing, however it will not omit "lanyards". So to exclude all of the lanyards, beads, etc, you would have to type "-lanyard -lanyards -bead -beads" all in the same search.

Edit to add: Just re-read your post, you are correct. If you use the trick mentioned above, if someone is selling an actual knife and the word you are excluding is in their title, you will not see the listing.
