Hi,
Coudn't decide where to post this,I have read on here about questions on knuck knives so here it is.
I was set up Sunday at an outdoor bike show in Mass.with a few knives.2 police come over and start playing with a Italy lockback that looks like an auto.I told them it wasn't an auto and they gave me some sort of reply about just checking. They then proceded to look at all the knives and bayonets I had on display. One of the police saw a Wyoming Skinner knife I had out.He says that is illegal here in Mass.I said what's that (not thinking he was pointing towad the Wyoming Knife) and he pointed to the Wyoming Knife.I was being polite and they where also.I asked why is that and the police said because it has 2 finger holes and is considered a knuck knife in Mass. So I did as he said and took it and put away.
I was a bit surprised at this and asked if any knife with even one finger hole was a knuck knife and he replied yes any knife with a hole for a finger is a knuck knife. So I would say don't carry a karambit in Mass. I started thinking if the bow's people tie on there Busse knives here would also be a no-no but I wanted to end our conversation and didn't bother to ask.
About an hour later 2 more police in plain clothes came over and started asking some of the same type of questions.I replied to there questions and that was it.What a shame the world is getting to with rules and laws like these.

Pete

Knuckle knives are illegal in CA (imagine that  ) too, and thus there was a special version of the anniversary Argonne Assault without knuckles. I agree; silly rules.

Hi Andrew,
I can see some of the laws.I think the 1918 type knuck knives are illegal just about every place.
What I don't get is the single hole or the Wyoming skinner being illegal.
I do agree silly laws.
Pete

the only good thing you can say about the rules in CA. is law enforcement seem to have half a clue as to whats legal. in IA if you ask 12 different police officers a question on something you will get 13 different opinions

Which laws are those? And if you allow those laws then what makes the other silly?

I see knife laws as being as stupid as gun laws. As the man said, "An armed society is a polite society".

Hi,
Spearhead all the laws are silly.Don't get me wrong or try to put words in my mouth. What I was saying is that there are laws on knuck knives and they (the police) tell me that a Wyoming knife is a knuck knife.Hey I wish there where no laws on knives or guns. There are though and until the laws change we have to abide wheather we like it or not.I don't even think you should have to have gun permit to carry what does it prove to have a CCW if your going to do something wrong with a hangun you will anyway permit or no permit.Or you can use just about anything you get your hands on.
There was a thread on one of these forums a while back about knuck knives and karambits. So I posted to let people think about it and to know.
Take Care,
Pete

Hi again Pete,

Nobody's trying to put words in your mouth. Just a little discussion, no worries. And thanks for the info, I didn't know they were illegal in Mass.

Just asking a question to clarify your position. Just wanted to see exactly what you meant. Your original statement didn't make it completely clear to me. Thanks for the clarification.

totally legal, in all but one state....

Gonna do a little BPCR Bill? That's a wop of BP, but a boatload of fun. If it was cannon grade I KNOW there's fun involved.
